Tree Removal · Tree Trimming · Stump Grinding
Tree Fellars Tree Service has worked across Watauga, Avery, and Ashe Counties since 2018. We handle tree removal, trimming, and stump grinding for homeowners and businesses throughout the High Country — from hazard trees and storm damage to routine maintenance.
Owner Jesse Latendresse brings 20 years of climbing experience to every job, building zip lines in Colorado and Las Vegas — and a ropes course in South Korea — before founding Tree Fellars. Our five-person crew carries $2 million in liability coverage and full workers' compensation insurance.
We handle every kind of removal, from a single backyard tree to complex, hazardous jobs near homes, power lines, driveways, and other structures. Our crew runs track hoes, a chipper and truck, and skid steers — the equipment to take down whatever the job requires and haul it out clean. For large or hard-to-reach trees, we bring in a crane through Crane & Rigging Corporation — we assess the job, spec the right machine for it (typically a 40-ton boom truck, up to a 75-ton ATF 70G-4 all-terrain crane for the largest jobs), and our crew runs the rigging while their operator runs the boom. You get one bill from us. Every job includes a free estimate up front and full cleanup when the work is done.
We trim every kind of tree, from a single overgrown limb hanging over a driveway to full-property maintenance for homes, rental properties, and commercial buildings. Our crew handles deadwood removal, structural thinning to improve airflow and light, canopy shaping for a balanced look, and hazard reduction near roofs, power lines, and walkways. Routine trimming keeps trees healthier, safer, and longer-lived — and after a High Country storm, it's often the difference between a clean limb and one through your roof. Every job includes a free estimate up front and full cleanup when the work is done.
We grind any tree stump, whether we took the tree down ourselves or you've inherited one from a previous job. Our Vermeer stump grinder takes stumps well below grade level — deep enough to fill the hole with soil and let your lawn grow back as if the tree was never there. Every job includes a free estimate up front and full cleanup of the chips when the work is done.
We chip and haul a lot of wood, and we'd rather give it away than take it to the dump. If you can use hardwood logs for firewood or wood chips for paths, garden beds, or animal bedding, request a delivery below.
What you're getting. Hardwood logs in varying lengths — you'll need a chainsaw to cut them down to manageable rounds, and once cut they'll still need splitting and a full season to dry before they're ready to burn. Wood chips come a truckload at a time, fresh from our chipper.
How it works. We deliver free when we're already working a job nearby in Watauga, Avery, or Ashe County. We can't promise a date — sometimes it's a week, sometimes a few months — but we'll contact you when a load is heading your way. You'll need a drop spot we can back a truck into, and you need to be reachable by phone.
Tell us what you need. We'll get back to you within 48 hours to set up a free estimate — or just call or text us if it's urgent.
